Concept

The word Hindu is said to have two origins: –

Hindu (WRONG): As derived from the word Sindhu or the people living to the east of the Indus Valley Civilisation. This concept seems to fit into the rudimentary historical theory of the start of civilization with the Indus Valley cultures of Harappa and Mohenjo Daro. With more and more historical evidence pointing against it, it is doubted whether it will stand the test of times to come.

Hindu (CORRECT): This word refers to the people living between the Himalayas (Himavat: the Mountain father) and the Indian Ocean (Bindu-sagar: Bindu refers to the Divine Mother). This definition is that of Maharishi Parāśara in the VISHNU PURANA.

To the westerner Hinduism is an enigma, being as it is a complex mixture of sublime Vedic philosophies, dogmatic Brahmanical rituals, Yogic mysticism, Tantrik occultism, fertility cults, monastic orders, pagan customs and the firm rooted belief in unity of Godhead (i.e. one God who manifests as innumerable divine beings).

The Rig Veda is the oldest text and the root of Hinduism. For at least 2000 years before the final form of the Veda (perhaps 1500 B.C.), a great urban civilization existed in North-West India on the banks of the Indus and its tributaries. This coincides with the worldly sojourn of the Krishna Avatar and the beginning of the Kali Yuga at 3102 B.C. The sacred motifs of this Shaivaite civilization – like the bull, the serpent and the swastika – are still part of Hindu worship. There are many seemingly contradictions within Hinduism that came as it tried to assimilate every belief it came into contact with. However, as the knowledge increases, this vanishes. Hinduism acknowledges that the Ultimate Truth manifests itself in infinite ways which is beyond the capacity of the normal human mind to fathom. Yogi practices, austerities and all forms of Mantra aim at enhancing the mental capability to use more than the mere 5% resources that it normally does. This enhances the chances for a complete and better understanding of God.

In the eyes of the westerner, “Hinduism is a socio-cultural phenomenon that evolved in the Indian sub-continent and spread to South-East Asia. It does not have a clearly defined God or one dominating philosophy or one holy book or one prophet or one church or one religious hierarchy. The secular and the sacred are not separated. Hence, Hinduism is referred to more as a way-of-life than as a religion.” This maybe true for a so called scientific standpoint, but when we realise that some of the mathematical concepts like decimal system or the fact that the earth was circular or that the concept of relativity was ingrained in the concept of the Bha-chakra where the earth is the central focus of a study of the solar system etc, were known to peoples of this subcontinent ages before their rediscovery in the west, then this concept of development of Hinduism suffers a setback.

nandiholycow
Nandi, the bull representing dharma, stands on four legs for the devout.

The historians mind perceives Hinduism as a religion and attempts to try to explain its beliefs and practices until he finally gives up as is seen in the quote given above. This historians “Growth concept in religion” gives way to a “Way of life approach of the socialist”. However they will still fail to understand the way as the definition of Hinduism is in its name itself “Satya Sanatana” or “Sanatana Dharma”. Dharma does not have any English equivalent and has been loosely interpreted as “Way of life or living” at the level of Physical consciousness and visible activities or monuments etc. In reality, Dharma is obedience and self-discipline at four levels (Chatuspada: four footed).

  1. The first is Vishwa dharma which requires strict following of the laws of Nature… the definition of Bhagavan.
  2. The second is Desha dharma which requires strict obedience of the laws of the nation in letter and spirit. Tax evaders and all sorts of criminals fall in this category. Desha can also be interpreted as social laws as ordained by one’s personal religion or social practices that are based on the books of tradition like the Veda.
  3. The third is Kutumba Dharma or duty towards the family. This is the town in large and personal family in the smaller scope. Thus keeping one’s town clean or looking after wife and children falls in this level.
  4. The fourth is Swa Dharma or duty towards one own self like looking after one’s daily diet, mental health etc. It is unfortunate that with the advance of Kali Yuga the Dharma priorities of most human beings have reversed with the self coming first, family far away in priority and nation / nature hardly finding any place. This fall in the value system is due to the erosion of Satwa (loosely interpreted as Truth force in this context).

Common Features

Having understood the basic foundation of Hinduism as ‘Sanatana Dharma’, the next step would be to try to examine the common features in the different forms of its actual practice.

Some common features of Hinduism are:

  1. Reverence of the faithful for the Sruti Literature which includes the Vedas.
  2. Belief in God (Bhagawan, Ishvar) Who is the cause of this manifested Universe as well as the Universe itself, not distinct from it (i.e. He is the Creator as well as the Created) and Who incarnates as innumerable divine beings called Avatars.
  3. Worship of the Earth Mother (Devi) in Her various forms (i.e. every physical manifestation of Creation must have a mother and refers to a form of the Divine Mother. Thus, She has innumerable forms (as there are innumerable creatures and forms of creation).
  4. All negative things in life are accepted as the products of Tamas (ignorance) or Rajas (passion & desire). Thus, there is no Devil or Satan and since this entire Universe is a part of Bhagavan, love of everything and all creation is the first step to God realisation. There is no place for hatred for anybody or anything. Even in battle, this level of non-attachment is to prevail without any place for hatred.
  5. This love of Bhagavan is expressed through rituals (Yagna, Poojas, Vrata, Samskara), including idol, plant, animal, ancestor and Nature worship
  6. Sansara & Rebirth: Belief in reincarnation of the soul and acceptance of present situation as a consequence of actions performed in the past life (karma) is the foundation stone of Hinduism. This leads to the study of Jyotish and other occult sciences/subjects in the search for emancipation (Moksha) from this cycle of re-birth. The path is enlightened by those who have tread earlier on it leading to the line of Guru’s & Sisya (Guru-Sisya Parampara).
  7. Balancing righteous conduct (dharma) with material aspirations (artha), sensual pleasures (kama) and spiritual pursuits (moksha). These form the four Ayana or Goals of life.
  8. Acceptance that there are many means (marga) to reach God and respect for each of these paths. Like blind people trying to describe the elephant by touching different parts of it, so also these paths to Godhead are like different organs of God. Just like the man who can see evry organ and can easily describe the elephant, so also the enlightened one sees (knows) all the paths and can understand Godhead.
  9. Caste system (varna, jati) based on Karma Yoga. [Since the Theory of Sansara or transmigration of the soul is also based on Karma, then the birth itself is a product of our own Karma and hence the Caste system was extended to the birth of the individual].

Perceiving the environment, the body and the mind as illusion (maya) and only the soul (atma) as the True Self that can be identified with the Supreme Divine Being (brahman). In Jyotisha, the Lagna and Saptama are the satya Peetha [The truth personified] whereas the other houses reflect Maya. This theory is also extended to (a) the Lagna and its Karaka (significator) Sun which is also the Atma-Karaka or the soul significator on the one hand and the Arudha Lagna and its significator Moon which is also the Mana-Karaka or Mind significator that perceives this unreal world as real. This is the great illusion.

Karen Aren is a Registered Yoga Teacher trained in a style of yoga called Prana Yoga which was taught to her by Dr. Jeff Migdow MD in the lineage of Swami Kripalvananda.  In Prana Yoga the student is taught to hold postures for a longer duration with the simultaneous use of pranayama and mantra as a method of accessing the prana of the seven chakras.    Karen teaches Prana Yoga on Long Island, New York and is available for group and private lessons. In recent years, yoga has gained much popularity and become a part of mainstream culture in the United States with an estimated 18 million Americans practicing yoga on a weekly basis.  Largely, yoga instruction has been in the practice of Hatha yoga which teaches asana (postures) and pranayama (breath techniques).  While many have come to experience increased vitality and peace of mind through yoga, many are left unaware of yoga’s spiritual purpose.  If we look at some of the ancient texts on yoga we find that almost the opposite situation, that the spiritual aspects were made very clear and the practice of asanas had little attention.

The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root “yuj” and means the act of joining, attaching or harnessing.   The joining refers to the union of the individual soul (jeevatma) with the Universal Soul (Paramatma) by which one can attain liberation from the cycle of rebirth.   Sri Krishna tells this to Arjuna in the sixth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita.  “The yogi who has completely calmed the mind and controlled the passions and freed from all impurities, and who is one with Spirit—- verily, he has attained supreme blessedness.  The yogi, free from all impurities, ceaselessly engaging the Self thus in the activity of yoga, readily attains the blessedness of continuous mergence in Spirit” [i]  The Bhagavad Gita affirms yoga’s spiritual goal of union with the Divine by controlling the mind and the senses with the practice of yoga of but only mentions the word asana to refer how one should sit for meditation[ii].

Patanjali compiled the philosophy of Raja Yoga from the Upanishads in his classic 2nd century text called the Yoga Sutras which consists of 196 terse aphorisms.   Raja Yoga consists of eight sequential steps to train the mind of the yogi to attain union with the Divine through meditation (samadhi).  These eights steps are yama[iii], niyama[iv], asana, pranayama[v], pratyahara, dharuna, dhyana, and samadhi.  Even though Patanjali includes asana in his path to samadhi, like the Bhagavad Gita, he only writes of seated postures.[vi] He goes on to writes that once “mastering posture, one may practice control of prana (pranayama) through stopping the motions of inhalation and exhalation”[vii] indicating that the practice of posture is a preliminary step before advancing on to the more advanced steps of concentration and meditation.  Swatmarama also makes this point in his 14th century text on Hatha Yoga, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. He gives detailed practical instruction in various asana, pranayama techniques and bodily cleansing techniques and writes that “ all method of Hatha  are meant for gaining success in Raja Yoga for the man who is well established in Raja Yoga overcomes death.” [viii]

Yoga in the United States has come a long way since Vivekanda first stepped foot here in 1893.  Many styles of yoga maintain it’s intended original spiritual purpose, like Sivananda Yoga founded by a disciple of Swmi Sivananda, Integral Yoga founded by Swami Satchitananda or  Kripalu Yoga founded by a disciple of Swami Kripalvananda, just to name a few. Many other yoga methods largely emphasis a vigorous physical workout so it’s good to be informed about a particular style and see if it meets your goals before beginning a yoga practice.

Please note we have retired from political astrology. These old articles published in popular astrology magazines; their accuracy speaks for themselves. Narayana Dasa has been my strongest tool for timing events over the years – nothing can match the power of Narayana in showing the truth.

The Vajpayee Government was sworn in on Thursday March 19, 1998 at 9:32’: 33’’ AM IST at New Delhi . The Muhurat for the swearing in seems to have been chosen very well, as it is a quadrant from both the Lagna and Dasamsa Lagna. In fact, it is the same sign as occupied by the seventh lord Venus in the Dasamsa Chart and the Pratyantar dasa of Sri Vajpayee was that of Venus at that time.

abv_swear1
The ascendant lord in the ninth house shows that the Government will be establishing Dharma (ethical methods of working). Let us examine the longevity of the Chart as per canons on this subject – Method of Three Pairs.

  1. Lagna Lord + 8th Lord = Venus (Movable) + Mercury (Dual) = Short life
  2. Lagna + Hora Lagna = Taurus (Fixed) + Gemini (Dual) = Long life
  3. Moon + Saturn = Scorpio (Fixed) + Pisces (Dual) = Long life

Thus, the two sutras indicating long life shall dominate. Further, if the Moon is in the first or the seventh house, the longevity shall be determined by the Moon & Saturn pair to show long life. The Atmakaraka is Saturn and it is not placed in the 1st, 3rd, 7th or 9th house and Vipareeta Ayur yoga is not applicable to the chart. The Maximum longevity of the Lok Sabha is 5 years and each Shoola Dasa shall be for a period of 5 months. The Shoola dasa will begin from Scorpio in the seventh house, as it is stronger than the ascendant. The Purna Ayur Khand is from the ninth Shoola dasa of Cancer to the twelfth Shoola Dasa of Libra (i.e. 40 months to 60 Months longevity). Based on the above, we may predict the following: –

  1. The longevity of the present government is between 40 months to 60 months from the date of swearing in.
  2. The first Shoola dasa of Scorpio between 19 March 1998 to 19 August 1998 has Rudra Yoga due to the presence of the Moon and the aspect of Venus. Thus Apamrityu bhaya (fear of premature end of the Government) shall be caused by the Moon (the Moon in debility indicates a powerful Lady – Smt Jayalalitha!). However, the Government shall survive for the period indicated by the Ayur yoga. The Moon also indicates natural disasters in the northwestern direction (From Ujjain) ruled by it. The storm in Gujarat is also an astrological pointer.
  3. The third Shoola dasa of Capricorn between 19 January 1999 to 19 June 1999 shall again cause Apamrityu Bhaya (fear of premature end of Government) due to the presence of Venus in Capricorn and the aspect of the Moon on it. Since Venus is in Capricorn, it shows a very bold and upright lady who always champions the cause of the poor. Since Rahu also aspects the Shoola dasa sign, the fear will be much more than the preceding period and there shall be allegations of a breach of trust or some other such calamity. However, as indicated by the Ayur yoga, by the blessings of Sri Sankara, the Vrishabha Lagna will continue to survive. Maha Rudrabhishek is advised before the commencement of this period. Venus indicates troubles in the southeastern direction and such parts of India.
  4. In the Ayur Khand (Cancer to Libra), Cancer and Libra are aspected by Jupiter and are unlikely to cause the end. Virgo is aspected by the Atmakaraka and is also unlikely to cause death. Leo with Rahu in it is the most likely sign and the longevity of the Government is expected till the tenth Shoola dasa (45 to 50 months or 19 December 2001 to 19 May 2002).
  5. The Mrityupada (Arudha Pada of the 8th house) is in Aquarius and the solar ingress in Aquarius between 14 February 2002 to 15 March 2002 is likely to be evil for the swearing –in chart. There are no planets in the fifth house, and its lord is conjoined a host of planets including the Atmakaraka Saturn. Thus the tithi is likely to be Saptami or Purnima and the likely Ascendant could be an earthy sign or Pisces.

NATAL CHART & SWEARING-IN CHART

The antardasa of Rahu in the dasa of Jupiter in the natal chart of Sri Vajpayee is between 25 June 1998 to 18 November 2000. Rahu in the eighth house from the ascendant and the Atmakaraka are not a good placement as it generates a dustamarana yoga. Rahu is also in exaltation but is very well placed in trines to Jupiter in the fifth house in the Navamsa chart in its own sign. Secondly, this exalted Rahu is in the tenth house from the Arudha Lagna. This will indicate success in all works especially international affairs and will give pilgrimages, divine deeds etc. Rahu placed in the twelfth house in the Dasamsa shows secret enemies who will plot against him and also shows the Hon’ble PM as a God fearing and trusting soul. Thus, while difficulties are indicated, so is success indicated. The security of the PM should be strengthened and he should beware against the plotters. Regular recitation of the Maha Mrutyunjaya Japa is the best remedy.
In any case, the seeming differences between the readings of the Birth Chart and Swearing in chart are can be reconciled based on the teachings in Prasna Marga. ‘If the Prasna chart shows good results while the natal chart shows bad results, attribute the good results to the good karma of the individual in the present birth. Instead, if the Prasna chart shows bad results while the birth chart shows good results, attribute it to the bad karma of the individual in the present birth’. Without the backing of good karma, it is impossible for the individuals to initiate the important works in the Muhurat ordained by the astrologers. Even Sri Ram could not be crowned in the predetermined Muhurat as Bhagawan had taken the human form to wash the curse of Sri Narada. Thus, if in the present context, the Muhurat shows long life for the Government it can only be attributed to the good karma of Sri Vajpayeeji in the present birth.

NARAYANA DASA OF SWEARING-IN CHART

Since the Purna Ayus of the Chart is for 5 years, the Narayana dasa period equivalent for each sign gained by a planet is 15 days instead of 1 year. Thus, the Narayana Dasa of the Swearing-in chart is as follows: –

NARAYANA DASA (Table )

Dasa Signs gained by lord Period in Days From To
Scorpio 4 (Mars 5-1) 60 = 2 months 19 Mar 1998 19 May 1998
Gemini 8 (Merc 10-1-1 Debility) 120 = 4 months 19 May 1998 19 Sept 1998
Capricorn 10 (Sat 11-1) 150 = 5 months 19 Sept 1998 19 Feb 1999
Leo 5 (Sun 6-1) 75 = 2 ½ months 19 Feb 1999 4 May 1999
Pisces 1 (Jup 2-1) 15 4 May 1999 19 May 1999
Libra 3 (Ven 4-1) 45 = 1 ½ months 19 May 1999 4 July 1999
Taurus 8 (Ven 9-1) 120 = 4 months 4 July 1999 4 Nov 1999
Sagittarius 2 (Jup 3-1) 30 = 1 month 4 Nov 1999 4 Dec 1999
Cancer 7 (Moon 9-1-1 Debility) 105 = 3 ½ month 4 Dec 1999 19 Mar 2000
Aquarius 11 (Sat 12-1) 165 = 5 ½ month 19 Mar 2000 4 Sept 2000
Virgo 5 (Merc 7-1-1 Debility) 75 = 2 ½ month 4 Sept 2000 19 Nov 2000
Aries 11 (Mars 12-1) 165 = 5 ½ month 19 Nov 2000 4 May 2001
Scorpio 8 (12-4 Second cycle) 120 = 4 months 4 May 2001 4 Sept 2001
Gemini 4 (12-8 second cycle) 60 = 2 months 4 Sept 2001 4 Nov 2001
Capricorn 2 (12-10 second cycle) 30 = 1 month 4 Nov 2001 4 Dec 2001
Leo 7 (12-5) 105 = 3 ½ month 4 Dec 2001 19 Mar 2002

The results of the Narayana Dasa are to be ordained in the same manner as done for other Rasi dasa. Some of the readings of the Narayana dasa (Table 1).

  • The dasa of Scorpio shall indicate evils and a lot of anxiety both as an evil sign and due to the simultaneous evil period of Rudra Yoga in the Scorpio Shoola dasa.
  • The next dasa of Gemini is very favorable and the Government will get a lot of attention in the USA (Gemini ascendant) and such nations. There will be some focus or rethinking in matters of finance as Gemini is the second house of wealth and its lord is debilitated. Jupiter in the ninth house will bring peace and stability and the Government will be able to steer clear of impossible odds. Rahu in the fourth gives Parakrama Bala and very constructive decisions will be taken about the armed forces. The host of planets in the tenth house promise excellent results in all spheres. Moon in the sixth house indicates that some colleagues/ partners will have ill health. Since Jupiter is aspecting the sign from the tenth house (leaders), the Cabinet will be expanded and some intellectuals and great leaders will find a place in it.
  • The next dasa of Capricorn is very fine in the first half, but the second half in early 1999 seems to be very evil. There will be some very threatening moves and destabilizing forces will come into being. Being led by the fair lady, they will cause considerable damage to the reputation and smooth functioning of the Center. Fortunately, Saturn is the Atmakaraka, their subordinates will ditch them in the last minute, and their alliances will fall. The Center will revive its strength gradually. Some senior politicians will lose face due to exposure.
  • The next dasa of Leo will see tremendous machinations and politics will take a strange color. As this is the eighth from the Paka Rasi, the health of Government will be damaged. Rahu in the dasa sign threatens losses and sudden shifts in shares etc. There is the danger of being cheated by a foreign nation. Jupiter in the seventh is the saving grace as the Moon in the fourth shows that the partners of the coalition will put up a very brave front. The danger of War or a similar incident in the North of India is not ruled out. (Proved True)
  • With the advent of Pisces dasa, peace sets in and there maybe some criticism of the financial decisions. A sudden change in the fortune of the Government and the tide is again in favour of the ruling coalition as more friends are made. Rahu in the sixth and the Moon in the ninth are good placements. Positive decisions are made for the development of Women in India and they will have a higher representation in parliament and other Government institutions.
  • The fresh thinking on the Constitution continues during the dasa of Libra. Jupiter in the fifth shows that the Law Ministry will be most active. Rahu in the eleventh and the host of planets in the sixth house are very favorable showing growth and prosperity. Justice is done in a number of cases and the faith of the people increases. This is the beginning of the new phase where socialism and religiosity are defined. Success in all activities and enemies become friends.
  • The next dasa of Taurus is a golden phase, as new initiatives will be taken in parliament. The Government has international reputation and the Nation is given a prime place in the United Nations and other international forum. Tremendous gains are indicated. The Ministry and other bodies dealing with land and housing are in a fix. Home affairs will need stricter vigil. Some decisions regarding the discontinuance of state governments come up for criticism that dies down gradually.
  • Serious financial problems crop up with the advent of Sagittarius dasa. Being the eighth house, debts increase and loans are taken. Food items maybe imported to meet the domestic demand. Being a short phase, the negative impact will be negligible. The next dasa of Cancer will be equally bad, but some improvement in the food and finance front is likely.
  • The next dasa of Aquarius will find the Jupiter bringing excellent reputation and the PM is congratulated by one and all for the excellent performance. Success in all activities. Excellent long term financial decisions. Home affairs are very good. The problem area is welfare. Liberalization of the economy is implemented in the right spirit.
  • The next dasa of Virgo sees the Government shying away from any battle and being in the defensive in many areas. Positive decisions about the insurance and trade are made, but they may have to be changed after further deliberations.
  • The dasa of Aries is evil throughout and the effects of Mars will be felt strongly. The Moon starts some strong moves that may compel the Center to take some quick decisions. Smt Jayalalitha may have some minor health problems, but she recovers quickly. The planetary positions are not good and many problems are indicated.
  • The problems of Aries dasa spill over into the next phase of Scorpio dasa and the temporary solution is found with the advent of Gemini dasa. However, the problems starting in the Capricorn dasa will ultimately result in fresh elections in the Leo dasa. These are the general readings of the Swearing in chart on the basis of Narayana dasa. Greater details can be had if the transits are also considered for the beginning of each dasa. The moot point is that some astrological press reports had given a very short lease of life to the Government. In fact one even went to the extent of declaring that the Government would last for about 2-3 months! It is evident from the above that the Government is likely to survive for about 4 years.

Epilogue

Readers will see my optimism in the lines above and I had expected that the Vajpayee Government would cross the first two dangers and would stay till 2002. However, my optimism was proved incorrect and the Government fell in the most dangerous period (19 Jan 1999 to 19 June 1999). This dangerous period had been fore-warned and in spite of good advise, the ill fated event happened. The Narayana dasa are also indicated below and it happened in the Narayana Dasa of Rahu in Leo. Unfortunately, my warning went unheeded.
Readers will see the accuracy with which the other events had been predicted using NARAYANA DASA like:

Om Sree Vaache Namah: Om Sree Brihaspataye Namah: Om Sree Gurubhyo Namah

Ashtakavarga is a popular method in India for making predictions. Maharishi Parasara said that the intellectual pygmies of Kali Yuga cannot make intelligent compromises and mix various principles. He said that they need a simple system for making good predictions. He presented Ashtakavarga as that simple system.

The list of benefic and malefic houses for each planet with respect to the eight references – Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and Lagna – can be found in classics. Based on these, we prepare bhinna Ashtakavarga (BAV) of each planet. Each Rasi in the BAD of a planet contains the number of references with respect to which the planet is benefic in that Rasi. We prepare “Samudaaya Ashtakavarga” (SAV) by adding the BAVs of the seven planets. To get the score in Vi in SAV, for example, we add the scores in Vi in the BAVs of the seven planets.

Parasara taught that houses falling in Rasi’s with a score of 30 or more are fortified and houses falling in Rasi’s with a score of 25 or less are weakened. Moreover, planets transiting in Rasi’s with a score of 30 or more tend to produce good results and planets transiting in Rasi’s with a score of 25 or less tend to give bad results.

Let us take the Rasi chart of Indian Prime Minister Sri A.B. Vajpayee (see Chart 1). Readers may find SAV of Rasi and D-10 and verify the following:

SAV of Rasi chart (See Chart 1) Ar Ta Ge Cn Le Vi Li Sc Sg Cp Aq Pi
Rekhas 29 22 27 29 28 38 29 26 23 34 28 24
sav
Chart 1

In Rasi chart, the 11th house has the maximum number of rekhas (38) showing excellent gains. The 3rd house of communication has 34 rekhas. This fortifies the 3rd house. That can mean that he is an excellent communicator, orator or poet. Sri Vajpayee is indeed a good poet and an excellent orator. So it makes sense.

Though Sri Vajpayee’s career wasn’t a bed of roses – he struggled in the opposition parties for most of his career – he finally became India’s Prime Minister and one must agree that he had a very successful career. And he is known as a man of great character. With Lagna and the 10th house in the SAV of Rasi chart containing only 26 and 28 rekhas – which is just average – why did he have such a successful career?

The answer lies in the SAV of D-10. Contrary to popular belief, Ashtakavarga is equally applicable in divisional charts. When we analyze divisional charts with respect to Lagna, we may as well analyze them with respect to the eight references. Parasara defined all the divisional charts and the areas of life seen in them, at the very beginning of “Brihat Parasara Hora Sastram” and most of the concepts discussed by him in later chapters apply to all the divisional charts.

SAV of D-10 chart (see Chart 2): Ar Ta Ge Cn Le Vi Li Sc Sg Cp Aq Pi
Rekhas 23 26 33 20 28 33 26 35 28 31 24 30
sav1
Chart 2

Lagna in D-10 is Sc and it contains 35 rekhas – maximum in D-10’s SAV. Arudha Lagna also contains more than 30 rekhas. These factors explain his success and good name. The 3rd house in D-10 also has more than 30 rekhas – like in the Rasi chart – and that increases the chance of being an excellent communicator in public life. Moreover, the significator of communication Mercury and the artistic Moon are in the 3rd house (in addition to more than 30 rekhas).

Though D-10 is powerful with Lagna and Arudha Lagna containing more than 30 rekhas, one may notice that the 8th house in D-10 (Ge) has 33 rekhas. This explains the struggle in Vajpayee’s career.

Thus we can get insights into the strength or weakness of various matters pertaining to an area of life by looking at the SAV of the related divisional chart.

Vladimir-Putin_4This is a one day workshop on the horoscope of Vladimir Putin – a man feared and loved by many in this world. The powerful chart indicates superb leadership capabilities that led Russia to its rejuvenated position of wealth and power after the debacle of the 1990’s.
